For generations, the Frederica Volunteer Fire Company has been the steadfast guardians of Kent County — responding with courage, training with precision, and serving with unwavering dedication.
Every call answered. Every alarm honored. Every neighbor protected.
Volunteer
Dedicated men and women serving without compensation — purely for community.
The Frederica Volunteer Fire Company was born from a simple conviction: that every member of this community deserves to come home safely. What began as a handful of neighbors answering a distress call has grown into one of Delaware's most respected volunteer fire organizations.
Our members — farmers, teachers, tradespeople, and professionals — leave their daily lives the moment the alarm sounds. They train through winter nights and summer storms, not for recognition, but because the people of Frederica and surrounding Kent County trust them with their most precious asset: their lives.

Decades
of continuous service
From fire suppression to community education, our volunteer firefighters deliver a full spectrum of public safety services to Frederica and Kent County.
Rapid response to structure fires, vehicle fires, and wildland incidents. Our apparatus and trained crews are positioned for the fastest possible response across our jurisdiction.
Our firefighters are trained in emergency medical care, providing critical first response before ambulances arrive — stabilizing patients and saving vital minutes.
Fire safety workshops, school visits, station tours, and hands-on demonstrations. We believe an informed community is a safer community — and prevention saves lives.
Vehicle extrication, structural collapse rescue, water rescue, and technical rescue. Our crews train continuously to handle the most demanding rescue scenarios.
Thorough fire scene investigation to determine origin and cause, protecting the community through accountability and helping prevent future incidents.
Trained response to hazardous material incidents, including proper containment, mitigation, and coordination with state and federal resources.
"We do not serve for glory, nor for reward. We serve because the family on the next road, the child in the house across the field — they are ours to protect. That is the vow we make, and that is the vow we keep."
Frederica Volunteer Fire Company
The Frederica Volunteer Fire Company is woven into the fabric of Kent County. We are your neighbors — the people you pass at the grocery store, the families whose children attend the same schools. Our service is our way of giving back to the community that sustains us.
We welcome community involvement in many forms: volunteering as a firefighter or firefighter EMT, supporting our training programs, attending our open houses and safety demonstrations, or simply knowing our number and calling us without hesitation when it matters most.
